Position Summary

Responsible for shepherding due diligence processes with broker dealers and registered investment advisors with respect to Griffin Capital’s current and past investment offerings. Work closely across multiple disciplines within the Griffin Capital organization, its affiliates, and its joint venture partners including asset and portfolio management, accounting, legal and compliance, marketing and sales.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Respond to all due diligence questionnaires and ensure all other requests from selling group diligence/research teams are addressed in a timely manner and with a high level of accuracy
  • Engage/manage third-party due diligence firms and ensure timely completion and dissemination of their reports
  • Coordinate diligence calls, ensure agendas are received/disseminated in advance, provide notes highlighting follow-up requests made during such calls and ensure that such requests are addressed in a timely manner
  • Create/compile diligence support materials and ensure diligence/research team receive all relevant updates and communication
  • Support national accounts team by maintaining strong relationships with the diligence community and providing them with regular and appropriate company/Fund updates
  • Participate in Fund formation/maintenance by conducting research and providing knowledgeable input to the team to ensure creation of effective Fund structures
  • Assist with the creation and review of all Fund offering material, communication and internal talking points/education
  • Assist the sales team by serving as a source of knowledge regarding fund/company related questions and assisting with the creation of talking points and other educational materials for the team
  • Assist with preparation/review of external communication/reports and internal education/resources
  • Manage the preparation, updates and accuracy of certain external reports/modules regarding Griffin Capital and our Funds

 Qualifications and Skills Requirements

Relevant Work Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience and/or training in the investment management or services industry; with three (3) years of direct experience successfully managing due diligence processes.

Certifications –  CFA or CAIA charterholder, FINRA Series 7, FINRA Series 65, and/or FINRA Series 24 or progress to obtain preferred but not required.

 Education – Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in Finance, Accounting, Real Estate or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 Industry Knowledge – Strong knowledge of the Financial Services Industry and direct real estate investment funds and strategies. Experience analyzing financial statements and investment performance data and knowledgeable regarding Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Understanding of real estate terms and concepts such as net operating income, gross potential and net effective rents, gross vs. net leases, contracts, operating expenses, capital expenditures, and general understanding of basic finance concepts such as NOI returns, cash flow returns, cap rates, internal rate of return, present value/discounted cash flow.

 Computer Skills – To perform this job successfully, an individual should have experience with all Microsoft Office Suite applications and be skilled in conducting analysis and interpreting models in Excel, and preparing formal presentations in PowerPoint.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including a strong working knowledge of financial concepts, accounting, investment underwriting and financial modeling.

  • Demonstrated abilities to proactively prioritize, organize, and manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines with professionalism, efficiency, and accuracy.
  • Ability to build relationships across teams and work collaboratively. Comfortable working with and presenting to all levels of management.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively present information and influence audiences and outcomes.
  • Above average ability to deliver as expected in a timely and accurate manner. Anticipates most challenges and plans accordingly to ensure success.
