Behringer Appoints New President for Opportunity-Style REITs

DALLAS (April 1, 2015) – Behringer announced today that Thomas P. Kennedy has been appointed president of the funds that comprise the company’s opportunity platform—Behringer Harvard Opportunity REIT I, Inc. and Behringer Harvard Opportunity REIT II, Inc.

Kennedy had served as CFO and COO of UrbanAmerica Advisors, LLC since 2008. In this capacity, he leveraged 25 years of in-depth experience to manage large and diverse real estate portfolios with complicated ownership structures.

“Tom is a longtime colleague and has tremendous experience operating real estate and real estate investments,” said Bob Aisner, president and chief executive officer of Behringer. “We are extremely pleased to welcome him aboard and stand to gain a great deal from his leadership, tenacity and integrity.”

Before his tenure at UrbanAmerica Advisors, Kennedy served as principal managing director for Equitable Real Estate Management, Inc. (and its successor Lend Lease), the country’s largest pension advisor, with more than $40 billion in assets under management. During his 21-year career at Equitable Real Estate Management/Lend Lease, Kennedy was a member of both the Investment Committee and the Executive Committee, using his expertise across all asset classes to advise the direction and activities of an equity portfolio consisting of hotels, office, industrial, retail, land and residential.

Kennedy holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Manhattan College.
