Blackstone REIT Names Brian Kim Head of Acquisitions And Capital Markets

Blackstone Real Estate Income Trust Inc., a non-traded REIT sponsored by private equity giant The Blackstone Group (NYSE: BX), has appointed Brian Kim as head of acquisitions and capital markets, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Kim, a managing director with Blackstone Real Estate, joined the firm in 2008. The company says that he has played a key role in a number of investments including the sale of Strategic Hotels & Resorts, the acquisition of Peter Cooper Village / Stuyvesant Town, and the creation of BRE Select Hotels Corp, Blackstone’s select service hotel platform.

Prior to joining Blackstone, Kim worked at Apollo Real Estate Advisors, Max Capital Management Corp. and Credit Suisse First Boston. He has served as a board member, chief financial officer, vice president and managing director of BRE Select Hotels Corp since May 2013 and as a board member of La Quinta Holdings Inc., a portfolio company of a Blackstone fund, since November 2015. Kim received a bachelor’s degree from Harvard College where he graduated with honors.

The DI Wire reported this week that Blackstone REIT purchased its first property after breaking escrow at the beginning of the year.

Blackstone Real Estate Income Trust is headquartered in New York City and is externally managed by BX REIT Advisors., a subsidiary of Blackstone. Blackstone, which currently manages various private investment funds and a publicly-traded REIT, has more than $360 billion in assets under management.
