Griffin Capital Securities Names New Chief Executive Officer

Griffin Capital Securities LLC, the captive broker-dealer and distributor of products sponsored by Griffin Capital, has named Mark Goldberg as the company’s new chief executive officer, as well as executive vice president of Griffin Capital.

A financial services veteran with more than 30 years of senior-level industry experience, Goldberg joins Griffin Capital from W. P. Carey Inc., where he spent nearly a decade as managing director of W. P. Carey Inc., chairman of Carey Financial LLC, president of W. P. Carey Investment Management LLC, as well as senior executive positions in Carey’s real estate investment trust and business development company product offerings and their respective advisors.

W.P. Carey notified the Securities and Exchange Commission of Goldberg’s resignation earlier this month, as reported by The DI Wire. According to the filing, his resignation will be effective on July 10th.

Goldberg previously served as chief executive officer and president of AIG-Royal Alliance, executive vice president of SunAmerica Financial Network and president of AIG Securities, Tokyo. Goldberg was also a founding member of the Financial Services Institute, a board member and past chair of the Investment Program Association, and in 2016, he was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Investment Program Association.

Goldberg earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Yeshiva University and studied finance in the graduate program of CUNY, Baruch College. He is involved in various charitable endeavors including serving as a board member and executive committee member at St. Mary’s Hospital for Children and the Invest in Others charitable foundation.
