Strategic Storage Trust II Doubles Size of Board of Directors

Strategic Storage Trust II Inc., a publicly registered non-traded real estate investment trust, announced that its board of directors doubled its size from three directors to six directors, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The board recently appointed Timothy S. Morris, Harold “Skip” Perry, and Paula Mathews to serve as directors for the newly-created director positions. Morris and Perry were appointed as independent directors, while Mathews serves as executive vice president and secretary of Strategic Storage Trust II.

The board also appointed Perry to serve as a member of the company’s audit committee, as well as the nominating and corporate governance committee.

Perry has more than 40 years of financial accounting, management and consulting experience for domestic and international organizations in the real estate industry. He is currently the executive managing director of Real Globe Advisors LLC, a commercial real estate advisory firm which he founded.

Perry previously served as one of the company’s independent directors, and served as an independent director of SmartStop prior to the October 2015 merger with Extra Space Storage. He is a certified public accountant, holds an MAI designation with the Appraisal Institute, and a CRE designation with the Counselors of Real Estate. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Russian and economics from the University of Illinois, and a master’s of business administration with a concentration in finance from Loyola University in Illinois.

After reviewing Perry’s background and qualifications, the board determined that he is an “audit committee financial expert,” as defined by the rules and regulations of the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Morris will also serve as a member of the company’s compensation committee, in addition to the nominating and corporate governance committee.

Morris has more than 30 years of financial and management experience with several international organizations. In March 2014, he served in a part-time executive position as finance director of Tomorrow’s Company, a London-based global think tank focusing on business leadership.

Morris previously served as an independent director of SmartStop Self Storage. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Bristol University in the United Kingdom and a master’s of business administration from the Cranfield School of Management in the United Kingdom. Morris is a chartered management accountant.

Strategic Storage Trust II focuses on stabilized self storage properties and oversees a portfolio of approximately 20,000 units totaling roughly 2.2 million square feet.
